A unique time of grace for your life
What is the Jubilee Year?
A Jubilee Year is a special time in the Church’s tradition encouraging holiness through acts of reconciliation and communion with our brothers and sisters. The Church celebrates an Ordinary Jubilee every twenty-five years, with the last celebration having taken place in 2000.
A special plenary indulgence is available to the faithful during the Jubilee Year. It can be obtained – given the completion of the ordinary conditions – by making pilgrimage to holy sites.
At Stella Maris, we are happy to offer parishioners the opportunity to make a pilgrimage to two designated Jubilee pilgrimage sites this summer.

Jubilee pilgrimage sites
One pilgrimage. Two holy sites.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati has designated the Shrine of the Holy Relics at Maria Stein as a Jubilee Pilgrimage Site. The Diocese of Toledo has named the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation as its own Jubilee Site. A pilgrimage visit to these sites can apply to the reception of the Jubilee Indulgence. Stella Maris presents the 2025 Jubilee Pilgrimage in memory of Elenora Miles, Sally Hart, and Betty Berwanger.

Frequently Asked Questions
A Pilgrimage is both a spiritual and physical journey. People travel to sacred places as an act of spiritual devotion. Pilgrimages allow pilgrims to deepen their faith, seek guidance and healing, or pay homage to significant sites tied to the life of Jesus, Mary, and the saints. It is a way to draw closer to God and experience Him in a unique way.
- Deepen One’s Faith: Pilgrimages offer opportunities to pray, reflect, and connect with God in a deeper way. Going on a pilgrimage allows you to step away from the distractions and business of your daily life and allows you to immerse yourself in an environment to encounter Christ.
- Seek Grace: Pilgrims seek God’s grace and blessings in places where His presence has been made manifest. Because this pilgrimage takes place during the Jubilee year, a special plenary indulgence is available to the faithful. It can be obtained – given the completion of the ordinary conditions – by making pilgrimage to holy sites. We will be visiting two designated Jubilee pilgrimage sites this summer through this pilgrimage at Stella Maris.
- Grow in Community: Traveling with others fosters a sense of community and shared faith. Get to know your members of your Parish Family by traveling and experiencing this Pilgrimage together!
- Experience Historical and Spiritual Significance: Visiting holy sites allows pilgrims to walk in the footsteps and learn about the lives of saints and martyrs. It also allows us to encounter sites where important events or people of our faith have been.
