Start Somewhere Challenge

GET BACK INTO SPIRITUAL SHAPE

Something's not right.

When you first get out of shape, you may hardly notice — until you do. At that point, getting back into shape can feel impossible. You might be overwhelmed and uncertain about where to even begin. But, analysis paralysis is unhelpful. And avoidance is not a viable option. If you want to change, you just have to start somewhere.

everything seemed fine

Lightning didn't strike.

The stats aren’t great. The Church is bleeding Catholics. For some, it wasn’t so much a hard and fast decision as it was slowly drifting away — missing Mass here, not praying there. For others, it was COVID. Spiritual practices evaporated, and lightning didn’t strike. Everything seemed fine, until it wasn’t. We find ourselves alone and stuck. God seems distant. We don’t know where to turn. We’re “out of shape.”

"Getting out of spiritual shape is easy. Getting back into shape is not. But, it is possible. You just have to start somewhere."

We know the struggle.

We’ve all been there: stuck. This is why we’re challenging every parishioner from the least involved to the most, to start somewhere. Start Somewhere is about coming back to Jesus in the Eucharist.
God has more in store for all of us. He loves you so much, he meets you where you are. But, he loves you too much to leave you there. Let him meet you; then let him lead you.

Start somewhere challenge

No better time than now.

The Start Somewhere Challenge at Stella Maris invites all Catholics to attend at least one Eucharistic event (Mass, quiet prayer in a church, a talk, a concert) in 2024. There’s plenty to choose from because we’ve launched our own Eucharistic Revival.

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.

— Mt. 11:28
