What is exposition?

Eucharistic Adoration involves praying before the Blessed Sacrament, whether in front of a closed tabernacle or the exposed host in a monstrance. Exposition refers specifically to prayer in front of the exposed host in a monstrance. We tend to use these terms interchangeably.

"Time spent adoring Jesus is a precious gift to him in a world of busyness, noise, and chaos."

Become a Eucharistic guardian.

While exposed, the Eucharist cannot be left alone. A Eucharistic guardian is someone who commits to an hour of adoration at the same time each week. At least two guardians are needed for every hour of adoration. Guardians are there to “guard” the Eucharist.

An adorer is someone who spends any amount of time in Eucharistic adoration. One need not commit to a specific hour to be an adorer. All guardians are adorers, but not all adorers are guardians.

Guardians make it possible for anyone to stop by one of our churches to adore Jesus during times of Eucharistic exposition.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a weekly commitment until you are no longer able to fulfill your commitment. If you are no longer able to maintain your weekly commitment as a guardian, please contact one of the Adoration Coordinators for the church where you are scheduled. (See contact numbers in the Handbook appendices.)

If a substitute is needed immediately or known to be needed in advance, you should first try to obtain a substitute on your own. The guardian roster/schedule can be used to obtain contact information.  If you cannot find a substitute, please contact one of the Adoration Coordinators for the church where you are scheduled.

Before you leave the church, be sure that a scheduled guardian for the next hour has arrived. You should be able to do this by reviewing the sign-in sheet. If guardians have not signed in, consult the sign-up sheet to see who is scheduled and contact the guardians. If you are unable to make contact with the scheduled guardians, call the church office.

Adoration will be canceled in the case of bad weather. The cancellation will follow the school closing for the respective church, as follows:

  • St. Bernadette – West Clermont
  • St. Mary – Bethel
  • St. Peter – New Richmond
  • St. Thomas More – West Clermont

We will post any updates on this webpage and will email the guardians affected by a closure. So, in cases of inclement weather, school closures set the bar (and the coordinators will still email you). For any other cancellations, you’ll be notified!

Yes. For select holidays. Please see the current listing of holiday closures for 2024 in this spreadsheet.

The answer to this depends on the site and the time of the funeral. Generally, in cases of a funeral, we will start adoration at the normal time and then repose the Blessed Sacrament during the funeral itself. Following the funeral, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed once again and the day continues as usual. If this is not the case, for some reason, we will try to let all the impacted guardians know.

We strongly encourage those who are scheduled to simply attend the funeral come to the Mass.  Remember the Mass is the highest form of adoration.

No. As long as you check with the other guardians to make sure they will be there. We always need at least 2 guardians present.

When members of the clergy are unavailable to repose the Blessed Sacrament, Fr. Tim has specific lay persons trained and tasked with reposing the Blessed Sacrament. Anybody tasked with reposing the Blessed Sacrament must be approved by Fr. Tim first.
